Beach Bar

Beach Bar Sunny Day Version

It’s been a while since the last post. “Beach Bar” is a rendering created in Autodesk Maya with Chaos V-Ray from a free 3D warehouse model of a wooden beach bar.
Vegetation, furnishings, and accessories are from Chaos Cosmos, and most of the materials were created from scratch out of texture sets from ambientcg.com.
The project was originally planned as the third one-day challenge, but ended up stretching out over a longer period because there were so many exciting tasks to learn. These ranged from creating a realistic sandy ground, including raised sand at objects like the steps in front of the bar or the rock on the right side using VRayDistanceTex to automatically varying colors of the bar stools, the wooden side panels, and the LEDs in the chain of lights using VRayMultiSubTex.

Other 3D programs support phasing or construction animations — unfortunately, Maya doesn’t. Therefore, I used this project as an opportunity to program (admittedly with the support of ChatGPT) a MEL script that enables such animations. In this case, “Sky Drop” is selected as the animation method for all objects or groups that have been moved to a single folder in the Maya Scene Outliner.
